Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic- Savic, as speculation again surrounds the future of their current star Granit Xhaka.
Mikel Arteta’s side are in the market for a midfielder this summer, with the likes of Leicester’s Youri Tielemans, Yves Bissouma of Brighton and Wolves star Ruben Neves all been linked with a move to the Emirates.
Corriere dello Sport have now reported that Arsenal are considering a move for Milinkovic-Savic, who has made 294 appearances in seven seasons at Lazio.
It’s said that the Gunners would be willing to pay over £42million to sign the Serbian international.
However, Lazio could look to hold out for at least £55million for their inspirational midfielder, who they are in no rush to sell with two years left on his deal.
Newcastle are another club said to be interested in the 27-year-old, but are not thought to be an attractive proposition for the Serbian star.
Milinkovic-Savic could be seen as a potential replacement for current star Xhaka.
The Italian publication have also reported that Jose Mourinho’s Roma are interested in reviving their interest for the 29-year-old.
Roma were keen on Xhaka last summer but were unable to meet the Gunners’ valuation of the player.
Xhaka signed a one-year extension to his Arsenal contract and was a regular under Mikel Arteta last season.
However, it’s stated that it would be a dream for Xhaka to play under Mourinho.
Xhaka has been praised for his performances at Arsenal this season, after struggling to win over fans during his time at the Emirates.
He was unable to help the Gunners qualify for the Champions League however, as they missed out by two points to rivals Tottenham.
